Ponce Inlet Fire Rescue

Ponce Inlet provides high quality fire and rescue services with a combination staff of career and volunteer professionals. Headed by Fire Chief Dan Scales, service is provided to more than 2,500 residents, covering an area of just over 7.5 square miles.

Fire suppression and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by a team of 9 career and up to 30 volunteer personnel. Career firefighters work a 24-on, 48-off schedule with a "Kelly Day," every three weeks.  Ponce Inlet is the only fire department in Volusia County with a Kelly Day.  The Kelly Day is an automatic day off every six shifts and shortens the firefighters' average workweek to forty eight hours.
